CAT6 (category 6) is one of the most commonly installed network cables in offices. It is designed for speeds of 1 Gbit/s and also reaches 10 Gbit/s over shorter distances.
For most workstations CAT6 is more than sufficient. In the IT-Label, CAT6 cabling belongs to level IT2 Plug & Play. The higher levels often require CAT6A, partly because fast access points need more capacity.
What does this mean for the IT-Label?
According to the official description, CAT6 cabling belongs to IT2 Plug & Play: fibre, CAT6 cabling and functional WiFi. For IT1 the description mentions CAT6A or CAT6, for IT1+ CAT6A or higher.
