CAT6A (category 6 augmented) is an improved version of CAT6. The big difference: CAT6A reaches 10 Gbit/s over the full cable length of 100 metres. The cable is also less sensitive to interference.
That is why CAT6A is the usual choice for new builds and major refurbishments. It is suitable for modern access points that process a lot of data and draw a lot of power over the cable (see PoE).
In the IT-Label, cabling of CAT6A or higher belongs to the highest levels, IT1 and IT1+.
What does this mean for the IT-Label?
CAT6A or higher is mentioned in the official description for the top levels, IT1 and IT1+. Cabling falls under Infrastructure. Because CAT6A handles fast access points and power over the cable (PoE) well, it also helps with Performance and Scalability.
