With a symmetrical connection you can send data (upload) as fast as you receive it (download). For example 1 Gbit/s in both directions.
Many home connections are asymmetrical: fast downloads, but much slower uploads. For businesses, that is a problem. Video calls, cloud backups and sharing large files all require a lot of upload capacity.
Business fibre is usually symmetrical. Do check, because it is not always stated in the brochure.
What does this mean for the IT-Label?
Whether a connection is symmetrical falls under Connectivity (capacity and speed). Under Performance, what you achieve in practice is measured, including when sending data. For organisations that make many video calls or work in the cloud, upload speed makes a big difference. See also fibre and bandwidth.
