With access control you electronically manage who may enter where, and when. An employee uses a pass or phone to open the front door and their own floor, but not the technical room.
Modern access systems run on the network. They can be linked to visitor registration (a visitor automatically gets access for one day) or to the building management system (the lights come on when someone enters).
Access control is one of the systems the IT-Label includes under Smart Building.
What does this mean for the IT-Label?
Access control is explicitly mentioned under the Smart Building component. Under Integration, what counts is whether the system is linked, for example to visitor registration or the building management system. Because access systems process personal data, they must also be set up securely and in line with the GDPR. See network segmentation and Smart Building.
