IT Building: what is it?

The IT that belongs to the building itself: fibre, technical room, cabling, the basis for WiFi and mobile coverage, and the network of the building systems.

IT Building is the IT infrastructure that belongs to the building itself, and that stays when a tenant leaves. Think of the incoming fibre, the technical room, the cabling to every floor, the basis for WiFi and mobile coverage, and the network of the building systems. The IT-Label calls this the building-related IT infrastructure.

Opposite it is the IT fit-out of the space: the tenant's own network equipment, workstations and printers. Who arranges what is recorded in the IT Demarcation List.

IT Building is the foundation of a Smart Building: the smart systems run on the building's network.

What does this mean for the IT-Label?

The IT-Label mainly assesses the IT Building of a property: the connection, the cabling, the technical room, the WiFi, mobile coverage and the building systems. Read more on our page IT Building: the IT of the building itself.
