An SLA records what you can expect from a supplier. For an internet connection it usually covers:
- Availability: what percentage of the time the connection works.
- Repair time: how quickly a fault is fixed.
- Support hours: whether that also applies in the evening and at weekends.
Business connections often have a better SLA than consumer connections. When renting or buying a building, check who holds the contract and what it says. That also belongs in the IT Demarcation List.
What does this mean for the IT-Label?
The SLA is not part of the technical measurement, but it says a lot about the reliability of the connection: how quickly is a fault fixed? Who holds the contract and what it says is recorded in the IT Demarcation List. During digital due diligence we also look at current contracts. See also fibre.
